Rhys Davies-Herbert: Director

Reform UK Friends of the Ocean is led by Rhys Davies-Herbert, who brings a wide range of real, hands-on experience across the marine and coastal sectors — from safeguarding Welsh rivers and fisheries, to ensuring safety of navigation for British vessels, to his more recent work as a hydrographic surveyor on major offshore projects around the UK.

Rhys is driven by his years of experience seeing first-hand how coastal communities are affected by declining fish stocks, unfair quota systems, pollution, and the increasing pressure on small-scale fishers. His focus is on building strong relationships with national representatives, coastal leaders, industry figures, and community organisations, ensuring the voices of coastal communities and inshore fishers are finally heard and represented fairly in decisions about the future of Britain's waters.

In his role as Director, Rhys is calling for a bold new vision — one that rebuilds a thriving British fishing industry, invests properly in our coastal communities, and restores our waters so they can sustain both livelihoods and wildlife for generations to come. His approach is shaped by real-world experience and a commitment to practical, evidence-based reform that delivers on that vision.

Rhys lives in Barry, Wales, and remains closely connected to the coastal world that shaped his career and values.
